Tomorrow is the day. The day we begin the new chapter in our lives.
Tomorrow we will put the last finishing touches together and we will meet us with Colin and Sharon Whiteside (Our new sidekicks) and hit the road with our first “GRACELAND” in Memphis, Tennessee. We look forward to sharing our pictures as we experience all these new adventures in our future.
Well today was a great day as it brought us one day closer to leaving on our retirement trip. We also brought home the motorhome so that we can begin to get it in ship shape so to speak and finish loading it up in preparation. We are on day nine (9) of our countdown and before we know it we will be hitting the road.
Casey and Finnigan, our King Charle’s Cavalier Spaniels got so excited when they saw “Daddy” parking the unit in our driveway. We bought the motorhome at the Boat Show in Toronto and the day we picked it up to bring it home, that was the day that we also first met our babies as tiny puppies so they have been raised in the camper and let me tell you they enjoy travelling and experiencing everything with us. So now they realize there is a trip in the planning and they are certainly eager to go.
For those of you who do not know my eldest daughter, this is Tara-Lynn Sauders (nee Kelly). Fourty two years ago today (and I remember it like it was yesterday) I was in labour awaiting the birth of our first child. In 1976 it was not a given that a mother and father would know the sex of their baby through ultrasounds like they do today. After 28 hours of labour our little girl was born and we named her Tara-Lynn Marie Kelly. She weighed in at 7 lbs 14 1/4 oz. I had never experience the kind of love that is so intense and immediate between a mother and her newborn child. It is not the kind of love that is present between a husband and wife – it was a special gift that God gives to a mother and father when they become a parent. Every year at this time I remember those wonderful moments and it brings me so much joy!
So although I went a little off topic this evening in this blog it feel it was worth it to dedicate this moment to Tara. Happy Birthday Tara – you have become a beautiful and strong young women.
Twenty-Eight days left before we become official “Snowbirds”.
Thank you to all those who have commented on my posts. It is so exciting to be blogging and although it officially doesn’t begin until February 2, 2018 at 8:00 pm (and yes we are counting right down to the last minute lol).
There is so much to do in preparation as I mentioned in my last post however today was a very eventful day for me. I received my first set of hearing aids and I felt like a child discovering new sounds that I had forgotten about with my poor hearing. Also today my new script glasses arrived and when I put them on I was so happy that I had to vision impairment and that I could actually read the bottom line of the chart. Big changes in both my hearing and my vision as of late. But now that is all taken care of and I won’t have to worry about it while we are away.
I will say goodnight to all of you and hope you are all well and content.
